Happy Sunday to you and your loved ones! I hope this day of worship is also a day of rest and leisure for you.
I am so happy to be at Our Lady of Grace, and I’m grateful for the warm and gracious reception I’ve received so far from the community! Thank you! As a means of communication and transparency, I’ll be writing weekly columns for our bulletin. My columns will be a brief way to update everyone on what’s happening in the parish, in my ministry, and in the Church.
So, here are some updates:
* I’ll be continuing my efforts to subdue our Saturday evening Mass while concurrently making our Sunday Mass celebration more festive. I ask for your patience as we make this transition. In this effort, I’m very grateful to Mrs. Jackie Gallagher for the generosity of her time as she serves as our temporary Sunday Mass organist.
* I’ve asked the diocese to facilitate an external audit of our finances. This is a standard request when there’s a transition of priests. It does NOT imply any concern of impropriety or mismanagement of funds. The audit is a help to us in evaluating our current policies and financial strength as a community. It will be performed soon at a date determined by the diocese.
* In seeking to develop some initial infrastructure for our community, I’ve changed Mary Constantino’s title to “Pastoral Associate.” Mary has been in charge of our faith formation program, but has also been taking care of multiple other duties. This new title better reflects her work in our community. In general, a pastoral associate assists a priest in the overall care of a parish. In particular, a pastoral associate helps in developing and growing ministries and outreach, as well as training and guiding local leadership. Mary has been doing this work, and will continue to do this type of work in faith formation and in other areas within our community.
These are a few initial updates. I remind everyone of our Parish Town Hall Meetings on September 22 at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. This is an opportunity for us to meet as a community, voice ideas and concerns, and listen to one another. I hope everyone can make one of these sessions.
Thank you again for your warm welcome. Our journey together begins!
